چکیده

Abstract In the United States, an unexpected and severe increase in coal miners’ lung diseases late 1990s prompted researchers to investigate causes of disease resurgence. This study aims scrutinize effects various mining parameters, including rank, mine size, operation type, seam height, geographical location on prevalence worker's pneumoconiosis (CWP) surface underground mines. A comprehensive dataset was created using U.S. Mine Safety Health Administration (MSHA) Employment Accident/Injury databases. The information merged based ID by utilizing SQL data management software. total number 123,589 mine-year observations were included statistical analysis. Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE) model used conduct a analysis 29,707, 32,643 for mines, respectively. results econometrics approach revealed that workers mines are at greater risk CWP comparing those operations. Furthermore, Appalachia Interior regions higher than Western region. Surface Appalachian region more likely development miners also indicated working smaller vulnerable large sizes. thin-seam operations develop CWP.

Effect of Dust Suppression Measures on the Prevalence of Coal-workers' Pneumoconiosis in the Dutch Coal-mines.

The underground workers in the Dutch coal-mines have been radiographed (70 mm.) seven times since 1949. The prevalence of coal-miners' pneumoconiosis shows a continuous decrease in all age groups. To evaluate the effect of the intensive system of dust suppression over this period a cohort analysis was made of the proportion ofmen with pneumoconiosis with the same number of years of exposure und...

Pneumoconiosis in Central Indian coal-mines.

Extensive surveys carried out in Europe and America have shown the incidence of coalworkers' pneumoconiosis to be widespread (Flinn, Seifert, Brinton, Jones, and Franks, 1941; Fletcher, 1955). In India, however, the prevalence of this disease has never been investigated, and a report published by the government of India in 1946 (Deshpande, 1946) stated that there was no conclusive evidence that...

Rapidly progressive coal workers' pneumoconiosis in the United States: geographic clustering and other factors.

BACKGROUND Despite significant progress made in reducing dust exposures in underground coal miners in the United States, severe cases of coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP), including progressive massive fibrosis (PMF), continue to occur among coal miners. AIMS To identify US miners with rapidly progressive CWP and to describe their geographic distribution and associated risk factors. METHOD...

Coal workers' pneumoconiosis and progressive massive fibrosis are increasingly more prevalent among workers in small underground coal mines in the United States.

OBJECTIVE To determine whether the prevalence of coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP) or progressive massive fibrosis (PMF) among United States underground miners is associated with mine size. METHODS We examined chest radiographs from 1970 to 2009 of working miners who participated in the National Coal Workers Health Surveillance Program for the presence of small and large opacities consistent...
